Entry for October 15, 2007
There are three things that should concern us all as we journey towards a better understanding of what our destiny in life is. For each of us there is a plan. God has a determined work for us and that work is to serve the kingdom. Our job is to discern just what that “calling” on our life is. Certainly, for some at least, it seems that the “call” is obvious. Some are born with God given talents and gifts that, when utilized in kingdom work, glorify God. For some the talent or gift is not quite as obvious and there is a need for a deeper search. As we search to discern our gifts we are encouraged to understand that God intends for us to know His plan for us. Three things that should be considered have to do with: Source, Course and Force The Source is as plain as the nose on our face. The Bible reminds us in the very first verse of the very first book, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth”. God is the Source of all that is. He is the Source of all manner of life. We are reminded in Psalm 19:1 that, “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.” As we attempt to set our sights on which way to go we are reminded of our Course. The Bible says, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me”. Our sights are set on eternity in Heaven with God and Jesus lets us know in no uncertain terms that the Course to that end leads through Him. Jesus is the way! We must know Him, we must have a relationship with Him and we must follow Him. Finally, as we make our way, we must understand that there will be obstacles. There will mountains to climb and there will be rivers to ford. Certainly, there will be many unknowns to deal with. But Beloved we are not to worry because we are connected to the Force. The Bible says, “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth”. There is no power greater than Jesus’ power. He has authority over everything and, believe it or not, everybody. This journey will not be without its difficulties. There will be times when we will find it hard to carry on. But be encouraged my Brothers and my Sisters. The Lord has promised to be with us “even to the end of the age”. He promises to “never leave us, nor forsake us”. That’s just good news! As we journey we are girded up and even when we are weak we are provided strength. We know the Source, in Jesus we are on Course and in the fight we have on our side the Force. Rev.
