Before entering the ministry, Reverend Childs received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Oklahoma State University in 1970, and a Master of Education degree in Secondary Education Administration in 1975 from Central State University. After his entry into the ministry, Reverend Childs received his Master of Divinity degree in 1987 (honor graduate) from The Interdenominational Theological Center and Turner Theological Seminary in Atlanta, Georgia. Reverend Childs has served at churches in Oklahoma, Georgia, and South Carolina. He was appointed to Friendship AME Church on November 10th, 2007 as its 17th pastor. Specifically, his appointments have been at the following AME churches: Reverend Childs married the former Lois Maxwell in 1976 in Oklahoma City. She is a former "Teacher of the Year" who holds the prestigious honors of "Outstanding Young Woman of America" (1982) and "Distinguished Reading Teacher" (2007). She serves as parliamentarian for the 7th Episcopal District Ministers' Spouses, Widows, and Widowers Organization. Mrs. Childs recently joined the staff of Bethlehem Baptist Church's Bethlehem Christian Academy in Simpsonville, South Carolina as a teacher . |

| Casey J. Childs,II, MEd, MDiv was licensed to preach in May 1981 at Avery Chapel AME Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was ordained an Itinerant Deacon in the African Methodist Episcopal Church on September 5, 1982 at the Oklahoma Annual Conference and was subsequently ordained an Itinerant Elder in September 1983. |
