| Give Up The Hog and Fried Chicken! You knew we were going to say hat, didn't you. "If it tastes good, you gotta give it up." Well... Some of us were born with pig's feet, maws, chitt'lins, fried chicken and all those good things already on the table with the greens, black peas, sweet 'taters, and a whole feast of what other folks, with whimsical awe, nowadays call "soul food" but which most of us just called "sump'in t'eat". To flat give them up would likely cause both cultural and culinary shock. This one is up to you. The experts say you should give them up, but ... My grandmother died of a stroke/heart attack at 59. Wonder how much longer she would have lived on today's "modernized" diet? (Some things are just too good to completely give up cold turkey - forever and ever!) |
